One Tin Soldier Rides Away... Missing Something...

And LO! Our brave adventurer, with keen blade and impenetrable armor sallies forth to...

What's that you say? I've got a fishing pole?

OH!, hold on and let me equip...
.
...
.
...
.
AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!
.
It happened to me, oh, about once a month a while back... but pretty rarely now:
.
I go fishing and catch a bunch of fish. I have my fishing pole equipped (I'm wearing my fishing hat too, but I don't show helms, because the look pretty retarded) I mail off the ones I want to keep, and vendor the trash.
.
And then, when I'm done, I equip my sword & helm.
.
While still at the vendor.
.
Without closing the vendor window...
.
OK.
.
And, like last night, I usually notice when "Hey, why can't I crusader Strike or Divine Strorm?!?!?" I then proceed back to the nearest vendor and buy my stuff back.
.
And thus it should have been last night. I didn't log off or anything. BUT I did go afk (while flying) and I DID port from Dalaran to Darnassus.
.
Evidently, one of those actions "emptied" the vendor buy back window, and I am now stuck trying to kill things with a +25 fishing pole.
.
*sigh*
.
[edit - blogspot is REALLY ticking me off: For whatevern reason, it won't realize I have hit [carriage return] and forces me to use periods to seperate my "paragraphs... *growl* ]

  1. Raise a ticket, quick!

I once bought the wrong weapon (there were like 2 fist weapons with near identical names) with badges and was so embarrassed I just vendored the weapon and said nothing. But the time I thought to ticket a GM to see if they could swap the weapon for the one I wanted it was too late - there's only like a 30 day window on returns or something :(

ps. I would absolutely LOVE it if you could add a "Comment as:" option, ideally the "Name/URL" so I can post under my character name. Til then you'll have to remember Cassie = Cassandri :)

  2. I put in a request as soon as I realized what happened, though I wasn't sure if they could/would "fix" it... I waited for about 2 hours near the coin fountain, fishing & waiting. Still nothing as of this morning.

The good news is that it motivated me to get 5 more blascksmith levels to make my cobalt 2G sword.

As for the "Name/URL" thing. I'll see what I can do. Even though I've been scribbling away here since May, I really don't know what I'm doing. Heck, I didn't realize I could have a custom Header/Title until just recently lol.

    Thanks for the input!

  3. I looked around and couldn't find an option for"Comment As:". I *did* open it up so that anyone can now comment... There were 4 options:
    - anyone can post
    - Google users
    - Registered/Open ID req'd
    - register w/ this blog.

Nothing about comment names/structure/etc... (at least that I could find)

  4. Happened to me once with a shiny epic. Gladly it was restored by a friendly GM. But still... very embarrassing, cause I didn't notice it until the raid began.

Get yourself the addon "outfitter". You can store different profiles like "Fishing", "Tanking", "Ret" and equip every item stored unter that profile at once. ;-)

  5. Not to make it all about me or anything but it could be waaaay worse: http://www.righteousorbs.com/?p=274

I am absolutely notorious for doing this kind of thing ... if I can find some imaginative way to destroy my gear I usually will =P

But, yes, I agree - ticket a GM, such things happen all the time.

Also ... I kind of ... laughed. Just a little bit, you understand ;)

  6. When I first opened the ticket, I got a written reply asking what the names of the items. I had absolutely no clue.. Fortunately I did get in touch with a GM, and I got them returned.

In the mean time, I levelled my Smithing such that I was able to make a Forged Cobalt Claymore. It's actually better than what I had. I also made a Spiked Cobalt Helm.

My old helm (Circle's Stalwart Helm) is "OK" (and has worse armor) but, because of a killer deal on some gems, it's actually a better DPS helm, so VERY glad to get it back (and I had forgotten about my helm)

@tamarind - for better or worse, I'm not to IMBA for my shirt.. ;) rofl The good news was that we were farming low level stuff, so there was no "danger".

  7. That happened to me with my DK chest piece. I was going to add some armour reinforcement and noticed it was a ratty peice of green mail and not my orig blue. I have not idea what I did with my armour and I checked vendor and bags and bank. Poof gone. I was able to get a great upgrade at the AH with red and blue sockets for a very reasonable price so all in all the loss ended with an upgrade anyway. But don't you just hate when that stuff happens.

  8. @Sarge: I'll take a look at Outfitter. Anything to minimize the dumb thums... lol

  9. Whatever you did worked Silkrx! I can comment as Cassandri now :)

Nah you don't need Outfitter. You can set up a Fishing and Normal equipment set using the inbuilt Equipment Manager in WoW (you might have to turn it on inside the Interface options).

Only thing Outfitter did that isn't included in WoW Equipment Manager that I miss is the option, for each set, to change your Display Helm and Display Cloak options.

I love my PVP gear helm. Hate my normal helm.

  10. I have recently setp up a dual spec with tanking, so I ended up getting outfitter. I now have 3 sets: DPS, Tank and fishing.

Perhaps the game will let you set up that way, but I couldn't figure it out, so outfitter was the go-to.
